Our Trip to Tyndrum

Image
Hi guys! So here it is, my final blog post. So far, you have been able to learn something new about me, read about my experience of the West Highland Way, and the walks that I have taken during lockdown to cure my boredom.  For this being my last blog post, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the trip me, my two cousins and my two uncles took to Tyndrum! The small village of Tyndrum is situated in Strathfillan, near the south edge of the Rannoch Moor! Here is a picture of me and my cousin Brittany at the start of the trip! We arrived at the By The Way Hostel and Campsite. During our time on the trip we went on two long walks, the first one we started off from the campsite in Tyndrum and walked around 6 miles to Crainlarich. This part of the walk is also included in the West Highland Way, although you usually start from Crainlarich and walk to Tyndrum, not the other way about like we did lol.  We started off through the forest, it was truly gorgeous. The trees...

Lockdown Walks

Image
Hi guys! Welcome back, this will be my third post up on my blog! This post will be talking about the many walks I have went on during lockdown to cure my boredom. Below is a lovely picture from one of the walks I went on, which was located at Boden Boo!  This walk that I went on was right on the edge of the River Clyde, just below the Erskine Bridge, It is very easy to get there! If you are in your car on your way to Boden Boo, the turn off its on the A726, just off the south end of the Erskine Bridge, its easier to locate if you are using Google Maps!  Boden Boo looks over the Kilpatrick Braes, the lovely stroll goes through the trees, up and over some grassy slopes, or you can take another path which goes along the riverside beach!   The path is ideal for cyclists as well as walkers. The paths are wide and smooth, making it rather easy for prams to access! but there are some moderate slopes, but these do not last for long.  Here are some pictures that I ...

Looking at the name of this post, I think it’s clear to see that this next post up on my blog is going to be about The West Highland Way!  😁 Since this blog is related to everything hill walking, I thought it would be a good idea to dedicate a post to the West Highland Way! I know a lot of you would have your fave walks but the West Highland Way does just have the whole package! There are a range of lovely accommodations, you get to meet lovely people along the way, the food is unbelievably good, and the scenery is just absolutely breath-taking that it will be burned into your memory.  We started at Milngavie where we walked along to Drymen. This walk was around 12 miles, and on the way we seen lovely views of the hills, pics below for reference x  The journey here was an excellent warm up for where we had to walk to next! It is mostly flat compared to other parts of the route and we fairly enjoyed our time walking from Milngavie to Drymen as the views were just magnific...

A little bit about me

Image
I wanted to start with a bit about me. My name is Lisa Venman, and I am 21 years old. I am from a small town on the west coast of Scotland called Kilwinning. Pic of me here for reference x   I have been hill walking since I was quite young with my Mum and Dad. It has always been an enjoyable hobby of mine since then. When I was around 14, I did the West Highland Way with my family and friends. This consisted of walking 96 miles ) from Milngavie to Fort William, taking in a huge variety of scenery along the way, from countryside parks to loch-shores and open moorlands to steep mountains. I started the West Highland Way on the 27 th  of July 2013.  I know what you are all thinking, long time ago, how can you remember anything from then? Well… What I can tell you is, that walking the West Highland Way is an experience of a lifetime, even only if you are walking, its not about that its about the views and scenery, and all the new people that you meet on the way...
