Hi guys! So here it is, my final blog post. So far, you have been able to learn something new about me, read about my experience of the West Highland Way, and the walks that I have taken during lockdown to cure my boredom.
For this being my last blog post, I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the trip me, my two cousins and my two uncles took to Tyndrum! The small village of Tyndrum is situated in Strathfillan, near the south edge of the Rannoch Moor!
Here is a picture of me and my cousin Brittany at the start of the trip! We arrived at the By The Way Hostel and Campsite.
During our time on the trip we went on two long walks, the first one we started off from the campsite in Tyndrum and walked around 6 miles to Crainlarich. This part of the walk is also included in the West Highland Way, although you usually start from Crainlarich and walk to Tyndrum, not the other way about like we did lol.
We started off through the forest, it was truly gorgeous. The trees were mesmerising, we passed a few creeks, waterfalls along the way, whilst we were looking around we took in the most amazing views, some pictures below, but they do not do the views justice!
The next day we decided to have a little break and do a much more calming walk. Again we started off at the campsite and walked to the Bridge of Orchy!
This walk is flat, and the views along the way are just spectacular, as you are walking by the Corbetts of Beinn Odhar and Beunn a’Chaisteil and also the Munro of Beinn Dorain, this gives you the perfect taste of the highlands that you have had so far..
Here is a photo of me and my cousin halfway through the walk! As you can see my cousin is wearing vans lol. (Not hill walking material may I say) Sorry Brittany x
At the end we arrived at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel. This caters for hikers as well as motorists. Whilst you are sitting down whether it is having a drink or a meal, you just get to relax and enjoy the views. This had to be my favourite walk of the trip as it was steady going, and well worth it!! This is one walk I would highly recommend.
This is it guys! The ending of my blog, as it was just part of my studies I don’t have any intentions of keeping it going after this post. Thank you to everyone who read, and commented it means a lot, the feedback I have gotten has been wonderful! Hope you have enjoyed reading this, and for the last time.
